At the Ziegler Holztechnik site in Hermsdorf, cross laminated timber and glulam products are manufactured on one of the most modern plants in Europe.
These are used in modern timber and commercial construction. The solid wood components are used as wall, ceiling and roof elements. Without a doubt, this is a product line with a promising future.

Our glulam products are made of spruce & pine wood.

Glulam rods and standard cross-sections are available at short notice in any length.

In the product range of special components we produce fish-bellied beams, gable roof beams as well as special shapes with a maximum length of 40m, heights up to 2m and peaks of 0.4m.

Arches can be produced with radii up to 2.5m.

The breadth of the product portfolio, the advantage of an extended value chain as part of the ZIEGLER GROUP and a close contact to the customer make Ziegler Holztechnik GmbH one of the leading manufacturers in the field of glulam production.

Wood types of wood technology

According to the highest European standards, the BSPXILAM panels are manufactured at Ziegler Holztechnik GmbH using a modern gluing process.
Years of experience in processing and gluing wood, as well as its use in structural applications, make the XILAM panels a reliable and safe product.

XILAM panels have high stability and at the same time can be installed quickly and easily. An ecological and sustainable product with high thermal and static values.

Fully automated production allows for precisely fitting window and door openings, as well as milling for electrical installations according to your specifications.

Currently, cross laminated timber elements can be produced in a width of 3.03m and a maximum length of 16.50m. The total thickness is possible from 60mm to 280mm, this is achieved depending on the thickness of 3 to 7 layers.

At the customer’s request, two outer layers can also be produced and supplied in each case in the longitudinal direction of the fibers or the transverse direction of the fibers. A natural product with very good insulation properties – the building material of the future!

Wood construction is the future

Almost limitless design possibilities open up new dimensions and creative freedom for architects.

Glulam and cross laminated timber are the ideal solution for modern building construction due to their outstanding mechanical properties and appealing appearance. As a sustainable and CO2-neutral building material, wood creates a uniquely pleasant indoor climate at the cutting edge.

Wood – an ecological building material:

Forests are the lungs of the earth. Trees store CO2 from the air as they grow. They bind the carbon they contain and release the oxygen.
A cubic meter of spruce-pine wood weighs about 500 kg. About half of this is carbon. In return, the tree has “cleaned” almost a ton of
of CO2 air “cleaned”. A wooden house thus becomes a CO2 reservoir and reduces the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. If wood is used for the construction of houses or halls, the effect of CO2 reduction is maintained.

Improved indoor climate:

Wood is a climate-active building material. Its advantages lie in its good building and indoor climatic properties:

  • Balanced ratio between heat-insulating and heat-storing material properties.
  • No emission of pollutants
  • No drying times
  • Low electrostatic charges. Like no other material, wood creates a healthy indoor climate and thus a unique feel-good atmosphere through its naturalness and warm surfaces.

Construction advantages

Large span

The advantages of wood as a building material, and in its refined form as glulam, is ideal for main load-bearing systems with large spans. With comparable load-bearing capacity, wood is lighter than steel. This allows for slender dimensioning of structural components and permits a natural elegance with modern aesthetics. Spans of up to 100 meters can be bridged with timber structures.

High fire resistance

Special fire resistance requirements can generally be met without major effort. A structure made of wood is safer in the event of a fire than unprotected steel structures.
In the event of fire, a char layer forms around the load-bearing core, slowing down further burning.

Deformation behavior

Wood has a negligible heat exchange coefficient compared to metal.
Sensitivity to moisture fluctuations is meaningless when properly constructed.

Chemical resistance

Glulam and cross laminated timber products are resistant to chemical substances and are therefore ideally suited for industrial and commercial buildings.
